CBD gains popularity with sports medicine

Sports medicine is increasingly focusing on products containing cannabidiol (CBD)

Most people rightly focus on medical marijuana when considering the health benefits. However, a growing number are finding similar benefits from the use of cannabidiol (CBD), especially for active people and athletes in sports medicine.

Part of the growing popularity involves how many athletes are elated by the benefits of CBD. If that works for them, why wouldn't it work for runners and those who work out regularly?

There are a host of CBD products available on the market. This is already something amateur athletes have been advocating for years. Perhaps the best known advocates are those who sponsor the 420 Games.

The games, held annually in US cities, highlight the use of cannabis products for active people. It also contradicts the continuing stigma of marijuana users as stoners sitting on the couch, watching TV and eating pizza.

 Chris Camozzi

Recently, UFC fighter Chris Camozzi publié his thoughts on CBD products on Reddit. He said that CBD helped him manage the pain and also felt it extended his career. Camozzi uses CBD oil extracted from hemp. He uses the product for all types of injuries and painful stresses, such as inflammations.

He wrote that he recovered faster from workouts and rebounded from injuries faster.

“Everything feels better,” he wrote, calling the effects of CBD “amazing”.

As a professional athlete, Camozzi noted that he had to exercise extreme caution. He said those who watch the sport follow the fighters are

"Closer than our women and I am constantly tested for drugs."

He said the hemp-derived oil he uses does not contain THC. He hasn't had any issues with testing since using CBD oil.

"You get all the health benefits without the 'High'.

He pointed to a case involving a torn MCL in his knee. He used CBD oil as part of his treatment. His doctors were "amazed" at how quickly the knee healed, he writes. After suffering similar injuries in the past, Camozzi said the healing time using CBD is much shorter.

The many uses of CBD

Medical studies on the CBD are still in their infancy. But some studies have already shown the benefits that Camozzi has seen. And those who regularly use products report many areas in which they can help.

They include the following:

Appetite control : Some report that a regular dose of CBD can regulate their appetite, which allows them to eat less.
Aches and pains : As Camozzi reported, some have experienced faster recovery from aches and pains using CBD oil. In some cases, people use a small amount before a workout, causing them to recover faster after the workout ends.
Energy boost : Some report that CBD can give a slight boost of energy, without the nervous feeling of certain stimulants ...

Also, as several have noted, there is no “high”. This is a good thing for sports medicine and athletes who work out to focus on fitness. The potential uses of CBD products only scratch the surface.
