The Perfect Joint Filter - We took a look at which filter purifies THC the most
Apparently, few people use cigarette filters (sponge) to smoke joints. Are these filters suitable for cannabis consumption? What is the absorption index of THC and the rest of the active components? Response and verification ...
The “sponge” filter for cigarettes, cardboard, glass and charcoal, in ivory or ceramic, spiral pastes What type of filter to choose?
The joint is the most popular way to smoke weed, either 49% according to a recognized survey. The filter is therefore the basic element to consider. Most marijuana users tend to use a piece of cardboard, today there are different types of filters and at the head of these, the “sponge” filter whose sale has exploded with the tobacco market.
The question that arises most often among consumers is whether this' sponge '(cigarette) filter' absorbs more THC more than cardboard filters. And if so, up to how much? To meet this challenge and push the study to the maximum, in addition to the comparison between the sponge filter and the cardboard filter we have added glass filters, carbon filters and ivory filters.
Étude on THC absorption
To check the amount of THC absorbed by each of the filters, an analytical laboratory connected a pipe to a suction pump through which dozens of joints were "inhaled". Each joint contained 0.25 grams of cannabis at 14% THC content. The same test was also done through a water pipe. The test results leave no doubt; the THC residues were taken at the outlet, once purified by the filters.
In answer to the original question does the sponge filter absorb THC? Finally, yes, and until 4x times more than the cardboard filter. Thus, the cigarette filter and cardboard filter absorb more than the carbon filter and the glass filter, and lastly than the ivory (or ceramic) filter. Results of absorption indices:
- sponge: 4.2
- box: 1.0
- glass & charcoal: 0.4
- Ivory & ceramic filter: 0.2
The THC absorption index is not the only measure in the choice of a filter. In addition, comfort and taste often take precedence over how to smoke.
It is important to know what kind of filter you want to use your marijuana with, and which one suits you best ... So, no secret, you will have to test them all.
