Lavender Strain Review

Is the Lavender strain an indica or a sativa?

Lavender, also known as Lavender Kush and Soma #10, was created by Soma Seeds. It is a 60/40 indica-dominant hybrid that is the result of crossing 4 unique strains from different parts of the world: Super Skunk, Korean Big Skunk, Afghani and Hawaiian.

Super Skun

As you can probably tell from the name, this strain exhibits an ultra-skunky essence. Skunk #1 is one of the Super Skunk parent strains. It is derived from Afghani, which plays an important role in the creation of Lavender. If you want to know how important Super Skunk has been to the cannabis world, know that it is one of the parent strains of the world famous Sour Diesel.

Big Korean Skunk

Big Bud, Skunk #1 (again), and a Korean strain go into Big Skunk Korean. Although it doesn't have a unique name, Soma Seeds have used it throughout their breeding process to create more than just Lavender Kush.

Somativa, Kahuna and Somango are all descendants of Big Skunk Korean. This strain of bud is rare but seems to be quite energizing in nature.

Afghani

The Afghani indica landrace comes from where some of the oldest cannabis plants have been grown! It treats insomnia and pain like a champ and is used to pass its resin-soaked buds through many breeding programs. Many marijuana strains are descended from the Afghani, including classics like Northern Lights and Amnesia Haze.

Hawaiian

The Hawaiian sativa strain produces an energetic experience that is both joyful and creative. The light green buds contain a tropical fruit essence reminiscent of where it grows. She gave birth to strains like Pineapple Express and Amnesia Haze.

Lavender Strain Genetics Availability

You can find Soma Seeds Lavender in many online seed banks. If you buy feminized seeds, you intend to grow consumable buds. If you find regular seeds, you can grow males and females, which have the potential to create new generations and new phenotypes.

Derived Strains

Lavender Kush is popular on its own, but it has also created a few derivative strains that are also popular. Two of the best known strains are the Cotton Candy and Wookie strains.

Cotton Candy is Lavander crossed with Power Plant, resulting in a balanced experience and an essence rich in cherries and floral tones.

Appalachia and Lavander combine to create Wookie. She delivers an acidic floral essence with a balanced high that works well for reducing the effects of stress.

Lavander variety yield

Lavander is easy to grow and adapts well to any climate that does not experience frosts during the growing season. Unfortunately, the yields are not very high with this variety of grass.

Growing this strain indoors will typically yield around 35 grams per plant, while outdoor growers can let their plants stretch to their heart's content and harvest around 250 grams of buds per plant. It is no match for the ultra-heavy producers in today's market.

Flowering duration of the variety

The flowering period of Lavender will last around 9-10 weeks for optimal potency and terpene profiles to develop in the buds. Outdoor growers will harvest in mid-October.

dark purple and purple seep into the leaves and buds during the flowering phase if low temperatures are present during the early flowering phase. Curly orange hairs wrap around the bud and attempt to cover the crystal-like trichomes below.

Lavender Strain THC Percentage

The Lavender has so many parent strains that it produces a variety of phenotypes. With so many phenotypes, it's understandable to have a wide range of potencies in the buds produced. Lavender has been tested between 14 and 27% THC.

Everyone, from the absolute beginner to the daily smoker, can find what they are looking for with optimal potency for their needs.

The high is quite similar to that of a generic indica. The cerebral high is euphoric and happy as the body relaxes and melts into the sedation. Many users find it useful for falling asleep at night, but it can be used any time of the day.

Flavor and aroma of the Lavander variety

The aromatic qualities of Soma #10 exude a spicy, floral essence that resembles lavender itself. The flavor is quite similar, with a chopped presence as well.

Terpene profile

  • Myrcene, caryophyllene, and pinene dominate Lavender Kush.
  • Myrcene acts as an antioxidant, induces relaxation, and is believed to be the culprit of couch syndrome.
  • Pinene is a catch-all for medicinal uses, treating pain, inflammation, and anxiety.
  • Caryophyllene brings spice to the plate and helps fight the effects of inflammation.

Although Lavender is certainly unique, there are other strains with similar effects and terpene profiles, such as Grape Ape, Cherry Pie, and Pineapple OG.
