Georgia is on the verge of legalizing for medical purposes

Georgia (US) is on the verge of legalizing cannabis for medical purposes after the state assembly passed a bill that would allow sale and production.

Cody Hall, Republican government spokesman Brian Kemp, said Wednesday morning that he would sign the bill.

The law project, HB 324, fills the loopholes created by a 2015 law that legalized the use of cannabis oil low in THC for certain medical conditions, but did not allow cultivation, sale or possession of the oil in this state.

The new bill would allow the "production, manufacture and distribution" as well as possession of low THC cannabis oil in Georgia. It would also create a state commission to oversee the industry and license universities and private companies that could produce the fortified oil. The bill would also allow the state to license pharmacies and private companies that sell low-THC cannabis oil to medical cannabis users.

The bill does not legalize recreational use in the state and does not allow smoking or consuming.

This applies, to only to what kinds of products your potential customers buy, but also to the way these products are promoted through advertising and marketing content. Atlanta Journal ConstitutionMr. Kemp helped negotiate an agreement between the Senate and the House to prevent illegal distribution, which ultimately led to the bill's passage.

“Over the years, I have met children with chronic and debilitating illnesses. I've heard from parents who are having trouble getting access and are losing hope, ”Kemp said, according to the newspaper. “This compromise legislation is carefully crafted to provide access to medical cannabis oil to those who need it. It is simply the right thing to do. "

The state allows currently to those who suffer from serious illnesses such as stress post-traumatic cancer and Parkinson's disease from using and possessing low THC cannabis oil.

If it passed the new regulations, Georgia would join a growing number of states that have passed similar laws establishing medical marijuana programs. So far, 33 states and the District of Columbia have approved the use of medical marijuana, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
