Extract Labs' Craig Henderson shares his history with cannabis and his thoughts on the future of CBD
Extract Labs is a producer of high quality hemp-derived CBD products. Craig is originally from California, but has spent years across the country; Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and even Hawaii were all once his home. Craig Henderson holds bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering from the University of Louisville. He is considered an expert in cannabis extraction, especially in CBD oil. He has spoken at over a dozen trade shows. Today, he talks to us about CBD!
CBD and industrial hemp
“When I arrived in Colorado in 2014 as a senior sales engineer for Apeks Supercritical (an industry leader in CO2 extraction technology), cannabis was starting to explode. CBD and industrial hemp, however, were nowhere else. Besides the people who were really in the know, there was almost no public knowledge of CBD and its potential benefits. Many of my current employees had never even heard of it.”
“When I started hearing about it, I was very interested. All the medicinal benefits of cannabis, without the stuff many people don't want...and legal in all 50 states? Honestly, it seemed too good to be true. I spent all my free time learning as much as I could, and in late 2016, I decided to take a leap of faith and launch Extract Labs. "

“Since the company was founded, the CBD market has exploded. Public awareness and acceptance is finally starting to catch up. And many people are willing to take a chance. This market boom comes with enormous benefits, some of which are negative.”
“On the positive side, so many people have improved their lives with the help of CBD. There are countless stories – it’s by far the most rewarding part of my job. By learning how this natural, non-psychoactive compound has helped people get rid of harmful prescription medications. They helped relieve their debilitating pain, helped them overcome severe anxiety…”
“Moreover, quality control and transparency are lacking across the sector. There are tons of people who see the money being made in this industry. And they want their slice of the cake. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that.”
“A lot of these companies are selling isolates from halfway around the world. And no lab tests have been done on anything. Some people just play halfway, without insisting on quality. Many of them don't even have the isolate in their hands. It is strictly bought and sold as a commodity…”
“While there are still many issues to be resolved, I am still very optimistic about the future of CBD and the industry around it. There is a lot of work to be done to figure out where the cannabis industry stands. But I am confident that, collectively, we will find it. CBD is a game changer and I think more and more people will start to realize it.”
