CBD file: better understanding some confusions

How the second famous component of cannabis, the CBD, has become a symbol of health

In a context of research and legality in many countries, its percentage of use by inhalation, oil, cosmetics, food supplements is increasing day by day. On the other hand, there are those who are already working to define it under the term "drug", which could completely stop the current free trade?

Le THC, identified in 1964 by the teacher Rafael Meshoulam, is far better known and more famous than his non-psychoactive brother the cannabidiole aka the CBD. The latter was identified a little earlier in the 1940 years by the Doctor Roger Adams as well as his cannabinoid "little brother" the CBN .

Among 133 cannabinoids identified so far the CBD has the particularity of consuming it to connect to special receivers : the endocannabinoid system (CB1 and CB2). It attaches to the most important organs of the human body like the brain, the spinal cord, the digestive system as well as in a multitude of other organs. It acts on the action of the so-called organs but also on human health, so that science is still not able to fully understand it.

2 Types of hemp

Industrial hemp and medical hemp says cannabis each produce CBD but not in the same amount. Recent studies on the benefits of this component have led to the development of CBD-rich cannabis species. These plants are able to reach a level of 15% compared to hemp plants that are usually between 2% a 4%

These two categories are used to produce oils, creams, capsules, mineral water and even crystal extracts containing up 99% of CBD.

The most obvious advantage of CBD is that it is not psychoactive, at least for those who are not interested in the "high" of a joint. It is much more user-friendly and fits easily into a normative lifestyle.

This is a double advantage, since its nature directly and clearly affects its diffusion, this innocent molecule is considered as perfectly legal.

Countries have allowed its use by allowing the use of the hemp: the industrial cannabis strain that contains only a few percent of THC and is thus used to produce foodstuffs and products industrial.

News révélations on its therapeutic abilities, have made cannabidiol more popular. Nowadays, many entrepreneurs and consumers join in what appears to be a real revolution in the use of cannabis components that do not cause a "high".

In the not-too-distant future, the CBD will become an essential source that will enter into the composition of foodstuffs , in food supplements and also in the compositions of pharmaceutical specialties.

However, according to the preceding studies and according the experts in this area, the CBD alone does not have the same health benefits against all cannabis with all its components (THC + CBD). The phenomenon called entourage effect, has proven to be the most important for the complete and successful treatment of cannabis, although CBD has its specific advantages in simple use.

Your next medicine?

Among other things, cannabidiol, over the years, reveals its most varied qualities such as the reduction of epileptic seizures, severe analgesia, treatment of diabetes, treatment of schizophrenia, stops the development of cancerous tumors, deals with theanxiety, relieves nausea and vomiting, treats migraines, has properties anti-inflammatory and even more see even the potential of renew the cells in the brain in a process called neurogenesis.

Newly published research has found another benefit: CBD has an important ability to balance the psychoactive effects THC and to prevent phenomena such as paranoia and I'worry due to over-medicalization.

The company that currently runs the most advanced clinical research in CBD is the UK pharmaceutical company GW Pharmaceuticals, the well-known cannabis sprays manufacturer Sativex, which is currently working on the final stages of development of its new flagship product, Epidiolex, which acts as Sativex but does not contain THC but only 98% CBD and 2% other cannabinoids.

GW recently announced the success of the Epidiolex Phase 3 trial as a treatment for people with epilepsy and LGS (Lennox-Gastaut syndrome): a particularly acute form of epilepsy. The study found that the company's CDB oil decreased by 42% the amount and intensity of tremors and spasms experienced by people suffering from the disease.

Following the success of the CBD study on epilepsy, GW recently filed a formal request with the FDA for approval of its new drug. If Epidiolex is approved as a drug, GW is expected to earn billions of dollars from its global sales.

In addition, in Israel, CBD oil administered to children with epilepsy and'autism have shown success in 75% of cases, almost twice as much as the numbers presented by GW. "Today, we have thousands of patients whose CBD has revolutionized their lives, including hundreds of epileptic children, children with autism, of which 75% reports a significant improvement," said Aaron Lutzky of Tikkun Olam leader in global cannabis.

A drug or a food supplement?

The direction taken by the CBD towards the world of pharma also creates legal problems in its relatively free marketing under the definition of "dietary supplement". The authorities have recently determined United States and Great Britain CBD has medical value and can be prohibited for sale by companies that are not licensed pharmaceutical companies.

As a result, many in the industry now fear that this will lead to the cancellation of the license to use CBD as a "food additive" that allows free trade and will completely prohibit its sale and marketing.

As part of this activity, the FDA regularly sends warning letters to sites offering CBD for sale. The letters are sent to companies that advertise on their websites or brochures on their CBD products considering that it is a medical value product, which can cure various diseases and reduce cancerous tumors, for example.

Like the FDA, its counterpart in the UK, the Health and Drug Administration Agency (MHRA) has announced that it examined the question of the definition of CBD as a drug: a measure that would completely prohibit its sale as a dietary supplement. "The change came when we expressed the position that CBD is actually a drug" said (on Sky News) Gerald Huddle, The Director of Supervision and Control of the British Agency.

To this day, as long as the seller does not declare that it is a therapeutic or medicinal product with therapeutic properties, cannabidiol is still allowed to be sold according to the definition of "dietary supplement". At the same time, a battle is going on behind the scenes for this legal definition, among others, by the World Health Organization (WHO).

If it is finally decided that the CBD should be removed from global drug laws or otherwise defined as a medical substance, a real revolution in the field is expected. If approved as a dietary supplement, cannabidiol will become a component consumed daily by millions of people worldwide. Such a change also has broad industrial implications for the opening of new factories and creation jobs.

On the other hand, if it is decided that the CBD is completely medical, its use will be strictly prohibited by anyone who is not a recognized pharmaceutical company with a specific license to use, market and sell the substance after having been proven in clinical trials and regulatory files.

Cannabis Light

Pending a new announcement, the CBD continues to be considered a dietary supplement as long as the companies that sell it do not declare it a medical product. This allows the trade in CBD oils and products to continue to grow and spread around the world, especially in Europe.

Over the past two years, the CBD has taken off and in parallel with the development of technologies to separate the molecule from the plant in the laboratory, medical cannabis companies around the world have begun marketing cannabis varieties.

The reactions on the ground were positive and very quickly the flower became like "green oil", which is now consumed daily by millions of people around the world, as part of a daily diet.

The countries most responsible for the expansion of cannabidiol in Europe in the last two years are the République tchèque and the Switzerland. These two countries have long approved complete non-criminalization of cannabis use, including THC, and are the basis of the hemp and CBD industry in Europe.

In 2015, the Czech government has officially defined cannabis extracts that do not contain THC as a "dietary supplement", which has led to the explosion of the local CBD market. A striking example is the largest cannabis exhibition in the world, the Cannafest, which is held every year in Prague.

Until 2015, only tea and biscuits containing CBD were displayed on the festival stands. Today, those attending the event will be exposed to dozens of stalls selling CBD products and extracts, oils, cosmetics, various food products and more.

But the Queen of the CBD who takes off is beautiful and well Switzerland. In stores for a while could buy CBD-rich cannabis packages sold as "tobacco substitute". A new company has recently gone even further and offers for sale Cigarettes-CBD in boxes that look like cigarette packs.

Not just smoking it ...

Cannabis Ointment
Cannabis Ointment

Smoking or ingesting oil for health care is not the only way to absorb CBD. Ointments for application are a hit among those suffering from psoriasis, Herpes ou eczema because the application of CBD on the skin reduces the feeling of itching and pain. Hemp seed oil is a steroid-free version of cannabinoids that can also help repair the skin.

CBD Living Water
CBD Medicinal Water

CBD water is also one of the many innovations of the cannabis industry that are developing these days. But its "simplicity" could make it one of the most useful in providing patients with a simple way to get medical.

The CBD in France

The noise on the CBD, its health benefits and its availability on the world market, of course, has not escaped France. Thousands of French regularly order CBD oils from abroad, mainly in Europe.

There are lawyers who interpret the drug ordinance in its plain meaning and determine that cannabidiol is completely legal since it is not mentioned in the provisions of the law and its regulation in its clear and explicit name as for the case of THC.

Many of those who order CBD oil abroad are parents of children autism and / or epilepsy who have heard about the incredible effectiveness of this ingredient in relieving their children's seizures.

Confusion on the path of regulation

The rapid expansion of the CBD market, particularly over the last two years, as well as uncertainty about the legality of cannabis components in countries around the world, sometimes leads to confusion and deception, sometimes even deliberate. In addition to the rare cases of companies that simulate and sell oils that do not contain CBD, recent research results have shown that as many as 70% of CBD products sold on the network are mislabeled.

This means that the data and the quantities of active substances in it are very different from what is indicated on the'label.

There are cancer patients, for example, who have heard about the properties of Cannabis Oil Concentrated Oil and are looking to buy cannabis oil online. In google search, they are aimed at companies that sell "legal cannabis oil", which therefore contains CBD but does not contain THC, which is an inseparable step of cancer treatment and therefore impossible according to the protocols of the famous Canadian farmer Rick Simpson it would be difficult to cure only with the CBD.

There is also the exploitation of oil for the cosmetic industry. Companies and even individuals, set up a production line and distribution of scented creams to apply on the skin, to which are added a little seed oil (just a little).

The brand packaging with cannabis flower does not hurt the pace of sales of this product. There are those who will say that it is a supposed fraud, but in fact it is just another exploitation expected points of interface between the legal and the illegal. Although not containing any cannabinoids at all, green leaves have always been considered a Mark, and today more than ever.

When will it be legal?

The Weed
The Sporty Weed

The entry of cannabidiol into the world of legal trade has taken an important step this year (October 2017) with the World Anti-Doping Agency in Sport (WADA AMA) who announced the list of 2018 in which the CBD will be removed from the list of drugs that are prohibited in the sport. The non-hepatic cannabis component, which has excellent anti-inflammatory and Pain killer, can now be an integral part of the training menu of athletes.

CBD is worth money and a lot

CBD sales are expected to be worth 500 million by the end of 2017, 200 only from 2015. The Hemp Business Journal estimates that up to 2021 the US CBD market will now reach 2.1 billion, as released some time ago in Forbes.

Variable rates

The prices of raw CBD, in kilograms, of course vary depending on the quality of the final product. Some laboratories produce CBD with a purity level below 90% and others reach the 99% level. The price gap between these two products is huge.

In addition to the huge sums of money and the enormous value of the molecule, its lack of psychoactive power and its health benefits in each mode of consumption creates a new industry around cannabidiol and will allow the creation of new factories, stores and thousands of jobs. This could happen from 2018, and better settle in France from 2019.

One of the fears to redefine "cannabidiol" as a drug concerns the transfer of rights to pharmaceutical companies. Nevertheless we can no longer backtrack. But the public wants the CBD and it already available at some dealers ...
